Katharine Mote started volunteering with the Indonesia Project in Wamena, Papua in August 2006, when the team’s focus was on socialising PBI throughout the highlands. After working in Wamena for 5 months, Katharine was transferred to Banda Aceh, where she stayed until her contract finished in October 2007.

Prior to working with PBI, Katharine worked in Sri Lanka with the Business for Peace Alliance, a joint International Alert-UNDP project.  Moving from Sri Lanka to Aceh, Katharine has been fascinated to compare the differences between these two areas historically affected by conflict and subsequently hit by the tsunami.
